Pence giving 2024 run 'prayerful consideration'

Former Vice President Mike Pence is giving "prayerful consideration" to a 2024 presidential bid, he said in a recorded interview that aired Monday evening.

"We're giving it consideration in our house. Prayerful consideration," Pence told David Muir in an extended interview on ABC's "World News Tonight."

Asked whether former President Donald Trump should ever be president again, Pence said, "That's up to the American people. But I think we'll have better choices in the future."

He added, "For me and my family, we'll be reflecting about what our role is in that."

Pence, who was seen as a loyal counterpart to Trump during their administration, has since recounted being repeatedly insulted by Trump as the former president implored him to prevent the certification of Joe Biden's victory in the 2020 election.

His book, "So Help Me God," is scheduled to be released Tuesday — the same day Trump is widely expected to announce his 2024 presidential run.

Pence said the results of a Trump-Pence matchup would be for others to determine.

But, he added: "It would be for us to decide whether or not we'd want to test that."
